The view of the meeting

Attending the meeting, on the Vietnamese side, there were Mr. Trinh Sy Tai, Chief of the Office of the Provincial People's Committee, Chief of Standing Office of Cao Bang Provincial Coordination Committee; and leadership representatives of Departments and Sectors: Foreign Affairs, Culture, Sports and Tourism, Transportation, Health, Construction, Planning and Investment, Finance, Public Security, Provincial Border Guard, the Management Board of Ban Gioc waterfall, the People Committee of Trung Khanh district.

On the Chinese side, there were Mr. Ban Huaqin, deputy director of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; and leadership representatives of relevant departments and sectors.

In the spirit of friendship and cooperation, the two Sides evaluated the implementation of pilot operation of the Ban Gioc - Detian Waterfall Landscape site in the past 6 months. The of pilot opening of tours to the landscape site for tourists from both sides has achieved some positive results. The total number of visitors from both sides to the landscape site reached 5,910 people. The activities of transporting tourists back and forth to the landscape area are coordinated by the travel agencies of both sides quite smoothly and comply with the laws of both sides, ensuring security, order and safety for tourists. The travel agencies of both sides coordinate quite smoothly in organizing tours for tourists back and forth to the landscape area. However, during the pilot operation of tours for tourist to the landscape site, the two side encounter a number of difficulties and problems that need discussing and resolving. The number of visitors to the landscape site is still small. The popularization to attract tourists has not been given due attention. The entry and exit procedures are not really convenient. Tourists' stay time is short. Infrastructure has not been invested synchronously and is not commensurate with its potential as an international tourist area.

The two sides agreed on a number of solutions to increase the effectiveness of pilot operation, aiming for official operation in the near future. The two sides agreed to take turns coordinating to organize propaganda and promotional activities inside or outside the landscape area; strengthen connections and exchanges and hold periodic talks; actively promote infrastructure upgrades in accordance with the Agreement on Cooperation in Protecting and Exploiting Ban Gioc - Detian Waterfall Tourism Resources; develop unique tourism products to attract tourists; research and develop a plan to inspect and monitor tourists to the landscape areas of the two sides in the most simplified and convenient way regarding entry and exit procedures; increase the visiting time of each tour from 5 hours to 6 hours. The Chinese would add the glass bridge while the Vietnamese side would add Phat Tich Truc Lam pagoda to the tours.

At the end of the talks, the two Sides signed a Minutes on the agreed contents.
