Cultivating friendship between people on both sides of the border is one of the tasks that the Border Guard of Ta Lung International Border Gate regularly advises Quang Hoa district to strengthen the organization of people-to-people diplomacy activities, contributing to protecting and maintaining national sovereignty and border security.
The signing ceremony of brotherhood forming agreement between Ta Lung town and Shuikou town
In 2018, the border guard of Ta Lung international border gate advised on the organization of forming the brotherhood relations for Na Tham - Na Chao (My Hung commune, Quang Hoa district, Vietnam) and Pho Cu (Shuikou town, Longzhou district, Guangxi, China). Residents on both sides of the border have a long history of relations, so they have a need to interact and exchange in social life. After signing the agreement, people in the two hamlets will be given the opportunity to travel and visit relatives on Tet holidays, traditional holidays, culture and sport exchanges. Households that have brothers or relatives with residents on the other side are allowed to visit each other. This contributes to strengthening the solidarity and traditional friendship between the two localities.
After signing the agreement, the kinship, brotherhood, and spousal relationships between the two border residents are connected, so the people are very excited. Residents of Na Tham - Na Chao (Vietnam) and Pho Cu (China) who are in a marital relationship are reported through the competent agencies of the two countries to carry out legal procedures to be allowed to travel back and forth to visit each other. On Great National Solidarity Festival day, Na Tham - Na Chao invites Pho Cu to join cultural, art and sports activities. During the time of COVID-19, they always informed each other about strange people who illegally crossed the border to report to the authorities for timely handling. In addition to organizing mutual visits and cultural and artistic exchanges, the two sides also increased agricultural exchanges such as exchanging sugarcane planting and care techniques, which contributes to promoting local economic development.
Ta Lung town (Quang Hoa district) and Thuy Khau town (Long Chau district) in October 2023 signed a twinning agreement, which continues to open more opportunities for residents on both sides of the border to increase social activities and trade goods. Ms. Luong Bao Giang, Director of Agricultural Products Import-Export Company Limited in Tan Thinh residential group, Ta Lung town said that after signing the twinning agreement, her company's agricultural products from Ta Lung town were transported deep into Thuy Khau town, which is convenient for the company's partners to conduct shipping transactions deeper into mainland China. "Thanks to that, my company has more Chinese partners", she added.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huu Thao, Head of Ta Lung International Border Gate Border Guard, in addition to implementing the content of the signing, resident clusters on both sides of the border also coordinate to organize the popularization of legal documents on national borders, agreements, decrees, and regulations on border management and the tradition of solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
Ta Lung International Border Gate Border Guard has advised the People's Committees at local levels to discuss with the Chinese side to popularize and educate to enhance citizens' responsibilities regarding independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity of each country, and preserving each country's territorial integrity. Since 2018, more than 33,000 turns of residents on both sides of the border have been listened and disseminated legal documents on national borders, agreements, decrees and regulations on border management between Vietnam and China. Over 5,600 households signed commitments to protect border security. People are increasingly raising awareness and responsibility in participating in protecting national sovereignty and border security.
The Party committees, authorities and people on both sides of the border actively participate in preventing, combating and denouncing crimes; coordinate with all levels to effectively prevent and stop activities that take advantage of ethnic and religious policies. Ta Lung was honored to be chosen twice as the venue for the 5th and the 7th Viet Nam-China Border Defense Friendship Exchange. Accordingly, the two sides mobilized more than 15,000 people to participate in the events.
The brotherhood forming model of residential clusters on both sides of the border demonstrates the creative application of the Party's guidelines in the mass mobilization work of the Border Guard and localities in the new situation. From 2015 up to now, Quang Hoa district, with the advice of Ta Lung International Border Gate Border Guard, has implemented the signing of brotherhood relations between a pair of hamlets and a pair of towns. Thereby, national relations, military-civilian solidarity, security protection, and border sovereignty are strengthened, which effectively serves socio-economic development, raises people's knowledge, reduces poverty, and improves people's lives. Many incidents related to both sides of the border have been timely detected and effectively resolved.
