Vietnam - China strengthen cooperation and border area development

Vietnam and China have agreed to well implement the border management according to the three legal documents on Vietnam - China land border and related agreements, and promote cooperation and development in border areas to build a border of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation and development.

The meeting between representatives of the Vietnam - China Land Border Joint Committee took place from May 28-29 in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China. The meeting was co-chaired by Nguyen Thi Huong, Deputy Head of the National Border Committee under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Việt Nam, and Wang Jin Feng, Deputy Director of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed and reached a broad consensus on plans for 2024, focusing on coordinating activities to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam - China Land Border Treaty and the 15th anniversary of the signing of the Protocol on Border Demarcation and Marker Planting, the Agreement on Border Management, and the Agreement on Border Gates and Border Gate Management (the three legal documents on the Vietnam - China land border). The meeting also reviewed the current status of the pilot operation, plans and roadmap towards the official operation of the Ban Gioc - Detian Waterfalls in 2024 and other related issues such as effectively implementing the three legal documents on Vietnam - China land border between the two sides. In addition, the two sides will work together to continue to resolve border-related disputes and issues in accordance with relevant regulations and agreements, coordinate to promote the implementation of cooperation and development initiatives in the border area, discuss the approval of border-related projects and promote the activities of Border Representatives and other related matters.
