Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Xuan Anh expressed his sincere thanks to Mr. Renzo Armuzzi and Ms. Mercedes Centanni for their warm welcome and gave a brief presentation about Cao Bang province. He emphasized that Cao Bang has the advantage of being able to form rich and diverse tree production areas including chestnuts, seedless persimmons, high-protein soybeans, tobacco, bitter tea, honey, etc. He stated Cao Bang, determining agriculture and forestry as one of the economic pillars, has strengthened the implementation of the project to restructure the agricultural sector towards developing agricultural products. Having identified a number of key agricultural products, the province has stepped up trade promotion activities to seek stable output for agricultural and forestry products, he added.

As the province's businesses are mainly small and medium enterprises, Cao Bang have not had nationally branded products and products exported to the EU market. Cao Bang have not had a agricultural product production area or agricultural product processing facility. The province's agricultural products, mostly exported to China's market, are maily raw sugar cane, black jelly, bamboo mats, and medicinal herbs. Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Xuan Anh affirmed, Cao Bang, in the coming time, will focus on attracting clean, organic and high-tech agricultural projects; developing linkage models in closed production chains in and out of the province with the prior to the development of production of branded and quality products tied to product promotion; attracting investment in the border gate economic zone; attracting investment in construction and exploitation of potential tourist areas in the province associated with protecting Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO global geopark.

The Chairman also kindly requested the Agency for Agriculture, Hunting and Fishing of Emilia-Romagna Region to help and support Cao Bang province in recommending and promoting its image and potential to appropriate partners; call on potential and strategic investors to come to Cao Bang for visiting, researching, and implementing cooperation, aid and investment programs; support the connection of Cao Bang intellectuals, scientists, businessmen, overseas Vietnamese, and organizations and businesses in Switzerland to return to their homeland to share and exchange experiences, transfer of advanced technology and investment. He expressed his hope that the Agency would support Cao Bang province in accessing basic information on the EU market for agricultural products; provide and update the province on new guidelines, policies, regulations and responses from localities in the EU region related to the export of agricultural products; continue to support Cao Bang province in enhancing the implementation of trade promotion activities and product promotion on a large scale so that Cao Bang localities and businesses can export many products to the EU and Italian markets.

In his speech, Mr. Renzo Armuzzi said that Emilia Romagna Region is known as the "Food Valley of Italy". The region and Vietnam have a good traditional relation. The Region's economic relations with Vietnam account for 40% of Italy's trade and half of the Region's trade with Italy. Welcoming the delegation's visit to the Emilia-Romagna Region, he briefed the Region's strengths and potential in the agriculture, especially strategies for building and promoting high-quality agricultural products and processing and models of management and coordination in innovation towards sustainable development and environmental protection. He appreciated Cao Bang province's efforts in converting agriculture towards sustainability, high-tech agriculture, and calling for investment attraction in these fields. He also affirmed that the two sides have much potential to promote specific cooperation in the fields of agriculture and food.
